Moguai and Mau5trap team up to deliver stunning ‘Oxygen’ EP, and ready his forthcoming artist album ‘Mpire’ for January 2012

In the past few months alone Moguai has charted a Beatport No. 1 with his Fatboy Slim collaboration ‘Ya Mama’, featured as a special guest on BBC Radio 1, completed a stunning set of remixes for industry A-listers — Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Underworld, Rye Rye and Robyn — and continues to juggle all of the above with an international touring schedule that’s bursting at the seams. He is, without question, on the form of his career. But just when you assume that no one human being could possibly fathom any more work, he rears his crafty head once again to deliver us a casual Mau5trap release of epic proportions, and the official announcement of his forthcoming artist album on the very same imprint!

Despite the sheer quantity of music that he’s making right now, it remains overtly clear that Moguai does not sacrifice on quality. Oxygen is testament to this. With the breathtaking vocal expertise of Fiora at hand, the style is back to the ‘Mau5trap Moguai’ of old, but with all of the benefits you’d expect from a producer with that many more months studio experience under his belt. Melodic, haunting, deep and spine tingling, the Moguai/Fiora combination is pure bliss for the ears. A more harmoniously delightful and progressive cut than Moguai has created in a while, Oxygen is electronic music the way it should be made. It’s electronic music of the very first order. Set for release on Mau5trap records on 7th November 2011, this might just be the record that skyrockets Moguai to international stardom. It’s that good.

On remix duty this time round we have the pleasure of born and bred Londoner and dubstep extraordinaire, Jacob Plant. Living up to all expectations and more, Plant retains the sensational Fiora vocals, and delivers a loud, gritty, hypersonic interpretation that will knock you for six. It’s got energy, it’s got bass, and it’s got a little touch of humour. Complete with a pounding club mix from Moguai to see things off in style, this remix package is the icing on the proverbial cake for what is yet another stunning release from Moguai and Mau5trap.

And as if that wasn’t enough to take in at once…we can now announce that the two ‘M’s’ will be continuing their special relationship into the new year, as they prepare to deliver Moguai’s stunning artist album ‘Mpire’! With a release date set for January 2012 on the mighty Mau5trap imprint, the hype around this is set to reach fever pitch. We can’t wait!

Tristan Garner Mini Q&A (via Nighttunes)

Last night, I had the privilege of sitting down (via the interweb & Nighttunes) with Tristan Garner. In the little time I had to shoot some Questions at him I saw something I havent seen in many artists who have hit the spotlight running… Tristan Garner seemed to have a pretty good understanding of the whole deal and was a really chill, down to earth guy. It is refreshing to see this is a guy who is literally traveling the world, doing what alot f us would kill to do, play music for the enjoyment of others… and not letting it all get to his head…

Question BR: What would you say is the most important step you took for your career in terms of being Full Time (producer/djing) ?

Answer TG: I failed my swedish exams, and i’ve decided to take one year off to focus on my music. That was the best decision ever LOL

Question BR:Do you like the idea of MIDI controllers entering the DJ market or do you think its only reserved for things like CDJ’s?

Answer TG:  love this idea and i’m planning to work on a new live show with midi controlled guitar + hardwares… stay tuned

Question: What is your favorite drink ?

Answer TG: Mojitooooo !!

Question : Do you drink alcohol on Stage ?

Answer TG: I try to stay clean on stage, and i’m so into my tricks most of time i don’t have time to drink !

Question: Do you have hearing loss because of your job?

Answer TG: Yeah on my left ear !! Protect your ears guys !

Question: Any Plans on returning to Montreal ?

Answer TG: I do a west canada tour in 2 weeks.. not sure about Montreal but i’d love to be back and rock the clubs !

BPM 2011 : What’s new in the world of Controllers

Sorry for the delay as of late as I hav been really focussing on my productions and work. But im back now and ready to tackle the ever growing world of EDM. Today alot of news hit the wire about some new Dj controllers surfacing with BPM going down soon.

First Up:

Pioneers DDJ-ERGO-V:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I posted some info about this controller a couple weeks ago when the teaser video hit the web… It seems to be a mid-range solution for Mobile Dj’s (ex: Mixtrack Pro, Vestax VCI-300, Hercules Console 4Mix) However this will be targeted at Dj’s and non-spinners alike. From the new video that has hit the web, it seems this is a mobile solution, with the people in the video traveling in public with it. No news on the full specks on this, but it is Pioneer so expect it to be quality.

Cost range is expected to be around £429/€499 /$690.

Tech Specks:

  • Bundled software: Virtual DJ Limited Edition
  • Input terminals: MIC x1 (1/4 inch Jack), AUX x1 (RCA)
  • Output terminals: MASTER OUT x2 (1/4 inch Jack x1, RCA x1) HEADPHONE MONITOR OUT x2 (front 1/4 inch Jack, MiniPin)
  • Other terminals: USB B terminal x1
  • Frequency range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.006% or less
  • S/N ratio: 101 dB
  • External dimensions:555 mm (W) x 280 mm (D) x 103 mm (H)
    (when removing the leg : 555mm(W) x 280mm(D) x 62mm(H) )
  • Weight: 2.9 kg

Second Up:

(Click Photos to Enlarge)

Just saw this puppy today as well, now it doesn’t look as impressive as the Mixdeck Quad (will feature some new photos of this puppy below), but it should be noted that this is going to be a mid-range controller like the Pioneer above. It has 4 channels, but a different feature than most other 4 channel controllers. The controller controls 2 channels and the other 2 channels are able to control outside equipment, say like a NI X1, or some CDJs. This is a pretty sweet feature considering it would help many Controller enthusiasts able to setup at a club alot easier with the ability to plug in the house CDJs

Price Range: ? But I’d expect it to be under the Mixdeck and Over the Mixtrack

Tech Specks:

  • 4-Deck controller and DJ Mixer that works with or without the computer
  • External mixing (2 CD/Turntable + 2 Mic)
  • Built-in professional USB audio interface with balanced XLR outputs
  • Large touch-sensitive control wheels
  • Serato DJ Intro software included
  • 4-Deck version of Virtual DJ LE Included
  • Mixer section with EQ, loop and effects controls
