BPM 2011 : What’s new in the world of Controllers

Sorry for the delay as of late as I hav been really focussing on my productions and work. But im back now and ready to tackle the ever growing world of EDM. Today alot of news hit the wire about some new Dj controllers surfacing with BPM going down soon.

First Up:

Pioneers DDJ-ERGO-V:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I posted some info about this controller a couple weeks ago when the teaser video hit the web… It seems to be a mid-range solution for Mobile Dj’s (ex: Mixtrack Pro, Vestax VCI-300, Hercules Console 4Mix) However this will be targeted at Dj’s and non-spinners alike. From the new video that has hit the web, it seems this is a mobile solution, with the people in the video traveling in public with it. No news on the full specks on this, but it is Pioneer so expect it to be quality.

Cost range is expected to be around £429/€499 /$690.

Tech Specks:

  • Bundled software: Virtual DJ Limited Edition
  • Input terminals: MIC x1 (1/4 inch Jack), AUX x1 (RCA)
  • Output terminals: MASTER OUT x2 (1/4 inch Jack x1, RCA x1) HEADPHONE MONITOR OUT x2 (front 1/4 inch Jack, MiniPin)
  • Other terminals: USB B terminal x1
  • Frequency range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.006% or less
  • S/N ratio: 101 dB
  • External dimensions:555 mm (W) x 280 mm (D) x 103 mm (H)
    (when removing the leg : 555mm(W) x 280mm(D) x 62mm(H) )
  • Weight: 2.9 kg

Second Up:

NUMARK N4:

(Click Photos to Enlarge)

Just saw this puppy today as well, now it doesn’t look as impressive as the Mixdeck Quad (will feature some new photos of this puppy below), but it should be noted that this is going to be a mid-range controller like the Pioneer above. It has 4 channels, but a different feature than most other 4 channel controllers. The controller controls 2 channels and the other 2 channels are able to control outside equipment, say like a NI X1, or some CDJs. This is a pretty sweet feature considering it would help many Controller enthusiasts able to setup at a club alot easier with the ability to plug in the house CDJs

Price Range: ? But I’d expect it to be under the Mixdeck and Over the Mixtrack

Tech Specks:

  • 4-Deck controller and DJ Mixer that works with or without the computer
  • External mixing (2 CD/Turntable + 2 Mic)
  • Built-in professional USB audio interface with balanced XLR outputs
  • Large touch-sensitive control wheels
  • Serato DJ Intro software included
  • 4-Deck version of Virtual DJ LE Included
  • Mixer section with EQ, loop and effects controls
